MPSD School Nurses Jennifer Hinz and Nan Oswald presented “A School’s Perspective on SPOT Vision,” at the State Lion’s Convention on November 11th to around 250 attendees.

The Lions club is an international service organization that focuses on improving the community.  One of their goals is improving vision.  They have been volunteering in the Manitowoc Public School District for years and use a SPOT vision screener.  A SPOT vision screener is a very expensive, handheld, portable device designed to screen vision.  Thanks to the Lions Club and their use of the SPOT Screener, the MPSD has been able to double the amount of kids screened and have much more accurate results.  It is clear to see good vision will help a student’s academic success – thank you Lion’s Club for making this possible!
